Can never go wrong with flowers. I also got my mom a gift certificate to a day spa - she can get a manicure, pedicure, massage, facial or anythign her heart desires.

A homemade card written especially by you, and your favorite baby photo or family photo on the inside thanking your mom for being so kind to you all. Or
get a big poster board, put all family photos on it, and on the back have each kid write what they love about mom, and makes her so special. That will be a hit.
Flowers with a big chocolate heart inside that says: "I love you."

You've probably heard this but a spa gift cards.. mani/pedicure, massage….or a gift card to shop. I work in a office and thats what all the moms keep saying "give me money and let me go shop"

I bought my mom a Mother's Little Gems pendant necklace from Lenox. It is the silver heart shaped pendant with my moms birthstone in the heart (at top) and all of my brother and sisters stones dangle from it.
Thing is you have to order it and personalize, so the best bet would be to buy some flowers and a gift certificate to one of her favorite places.
Or you could go to a store and purchase her some jewelry, maybe a locket with your photo in it. You just have to get creative and make something that you know she will like, up.
Another good idea is to MAKE her a gift basket, you can put your own ideas in it and still be able to put a giftcard in it with some of her favorite perfume or whatever you know she really likes.

Don't 'buy' anything for your 'mom' (or the most important woman in your life) … just promise her a 'total day' (later in the week or next weekend) of you to do ANYTHING she wants … from housework to just 'sitting and having a conversation' … and tell her that you love her, of course.

A sentimental card — Mothers love it, even if you don't mean it.

If she is religious, go to a Bible Book Store, and find her some neat book marks.

Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:
Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!
The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating … you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.
Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.
Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.
