Nothing to do with Summer, Winter, or outside events. September is not usually great weather in either New Zealand or Australia. Last I heard summer in New Zealand & Australia, is December to February. I have no proof, but these things usual work by the Government looking at the calendar and seeing what date suits best. Mothers Day suited to be the same as the USA and others, but Fathers Day didn’t. There are no NZ public holidays happening in May so Mothers day was Ok then. Queen’s Birthday is in June so they may have shifted Fathers Day to September as there are no public holidays in September.<br><b>References : </b><br> Looks like your not getting too much response to this question.
