India is predominantly non-Christian country. Consequently, the bringing of on the occasion of Christman etc. is limited to Christriqn institutes. The teachers in most schools are not followers of Christianithy.Consequently such exchange of gifts is restriced to some Christian schools.Exchange of gifts even in non-Christian religions is more or less restricted to boxes of sweet.
References :
I used to bring my teachers christmas presents - normally a small box of chocolates each.

That was pretty much primary, middle and secondary school.

Once I got to sixth form, I went to a different school and didn't give anyone any gifts. (I hated all my teachers)

Now I'm at uni, I only give christmas presents to my personal tutor and my disability officer.
