i wished my mom happy mothers day and she told me happy mothers day back.

I agree with Peking…..how are WE supposed to know what your mother meant? We can't read her mind! LOL
I assume it was just an automatic response from her and she didn't think about it before she said it.
For example, a guy says, "Hi, how are you?!"
and a girl says, "Great and you?"
and then the guy replies, "I'm doing good, you?"
He asked the girl twice just because it is automatic.

Do you have a pet? Maybe she meant it in playful manner that you are the mother of your pet.
