Mother’s Day is for ALL mothers, not just your biological mom. of course it’s ok! in fact, that’s really great that you’re close with your step mom.:) for most kids with a stepparent, it’s exactly the opposite!
on friday, i wished my music teacher a happy mother’s day…so no worries

I think it is very appropriate to wish her a happy mothers day. She may not be your biological mother but she is still a mother to you in some ways. As a step-mom myself, I’m very sad today because my step-daughter of 2 years now has never said anything to me on mothers day and it is hurtful. She lives with us and I have to do mother roles but get not appreciation on this day. It’s hurtful. So I think what you did was awesome and she appreciated it more than you know.

I’m a mother, AND a step-mother, AND my oldest biological son has a step-mother. We are a very blended family.

I rarely call my oldest son my step-son, he’s been raised by me and my husband since he was in Kindergarten, i knew him since he was 3. He doesn’t call me mom, he calls me by my first name. BUT he does say Happy Mother’s Day to me, and either gives or makes a card for me. I love it! He IS my son, Step or not. I love him, and the knowing that he thought of me is very special. He’s 13 now.

My oldest biological son has a step-mother, he does call her mom. and he too will be giving her a card this year. it does NOT bother me. She’s good to him, loves him like her own sons, and is a mother to him when he is w/his father.

I don’t think it’s awkward. In fact i think it’s very healthy and helpful in making the best bond possible. She is part of your family. I think celebrating w/step-parents during Mother’s Day or Father’s Day is very good for children. it teaches them that Family can mean MORE than just blood relation.

Im the same, i always wish her happy mothers day because she has cared for me like a mum does when ever i stayed there! Your just nice! not disrespectfull at all!

My stepmother is a wonderful, loving person. She never had children of her own, and she treats my brother and me like we are her kids. We love her and do not even consider her a step mother since that often has a negative notion, thanks to fairy tales. This is in no way putting down our biological mom who we love first and foremost, but just as a Mom loves all her children, the children can love all their Moms!

Indeed what you did was a kind gesture and very thoughtful. She is a "Mother" to you even if it is a "Step Mother". Remembering her on this day is very endearing and shows what a wonderful Daughter you are. There is absolutely nothing wrong with what you did, in fact it shows how mature and kind you are. Do not worry about how anyone else feels about it, it was your decision and you made an excellent one.

I think it’s nice that you show your appreciation for your stepmom.
If your mom or your stepsiblings don’t like it, they are probably just jealous and they should appreciate their mom more instead of being jealous.

You could always ask them though.
