I am glad to see that you called your grandmother and wished her a happy Mother’s day….I agree with all these people, in that, we need to wish all mothers a happy Mother’s day..it is not meant just for our Mothers alone…my mom died of Alzheimer’s this April 15th and I thought I would be really sad but I was fine at church and all (i figured i would cry and have to leave) but I was able to wish many, many mothers a wonderful day.

I am proud of you and you should be proud of yourself also…..I am so sorry that you lost your Mother..but I am sure your grandmother is sorry also.

i asked my dad if he called my sisters to tell them HAPPY MOTHERS DAY, he said the same thing you did. i reminded him that his daughters were in fact mothers. he aplogized to me.

You don’t have to. Yesterday a woman at the store said happy mothers day to me. And I to her. Saying it, one can say it to any woman who is a mother. About gifts? I only give a gift to my mother on mothers day.

My sister works at Hallmark and they make Mothers Day cards for moms, sisters, grandmothers, aunts, pretty much all women in your life who could be a mother. As a mom of 4, I wish all of my friends who are moms a happy mothers day, I also wish my mom and grandmothers a happy mothers day. However, I think that it is a personal choice. If you are not comfortable wishing others then you shouldn’t and it’s not your aunts place to tell you that you have to. UNLESS, you were really young when your mom passed away and your grandmother finished raising you. In that case I feel that although she could never replace your mom she definately took the "mom" place in your life and you should appreciate her for it and let her know that you do.

Well, you grandmother is your mom’s mom and if it wasn’t for her, you wouldn’t have had the mom that you did which means you wouldn’t be here right now.

My mom died 11 years ago, my grandma 10 years ago and I till remember Mother’s Day.

My mum died 5 years ago, i say happy mothers day to her mum, my nan as she misses her own daughter on that day as well as you missing your mum. It not only will make your feel like your helping your grandmother with her grieve but maybe also help you with yours. Being a mum also it is gr8 to be acknowledged. This is provided you and your grandmother get along.

No i disagree… we are all mommies, and all deserve to have a great day. So i love to wish all the mommies in my life (family, friends) Happy mothers day. In fact, i txt all of them this morning! =D
I am a young mom, so ppl around me wish me a happy mothers day every year. But it always surprises me when they get me gift. Just tickles my heart!

Could it possibly be that your more upset about wishing others a happy mothers day because you mom is gone. It is courtesy to say it to a grandmother, I messaged a few of friends with kids and said happy mothers day to them to. If you don’t feel comfortable doing it, thats your choice, but others may not understand your reasons. Sorry for your loss, and hope you had a good day despite the argument with your aunt.

Yes indeed, with a couple of exceptions; if a woman of your mother’s generation has been like a mother to you or who you thought of as a second mother, or indeed in this case where your grandmother has lost her own daughter (your mother) in which case it would be very sweet of you to wish her well on Mother’s Day.
