I need to know what a good Mother’s Day gift would be. Any suggestions?? Something nice, but not to far out of budget for a 15 year old who only makes 25 a week 35 every other week. Please help, I know its not a lot to work with but I can always try and make more.

Mothers Day in the USA and New Zealand are on the same day.

Like most countries both Britain and the USA celebrate Fathers Day on the 3rd Sunday in June. Finland and Sweden both celebrate it on the 2nd Sunday in November.

Other cultures around the world coincide Fathers Day with other celebrations in their community. In Germany it is celebrated on Ascension Day (40 days after Easter), in the Roman Catholic tradition it is St Josephs Day (March 19), and in Thailand it is the kings birthday (December 5).

My Questions:
Why does New Zealand & Australia have a different date and celebrate it on the 1st Sunday in September?
How did the New Zealand date of 1st Sunday in September originate?

Looks like your not getting too much response to this question.

Nothing to do with Summer, Winter, or outside events. September is not usually great weather in either New Zealand or Australia. Last I heard summer in New Zealand & Australia, is December to February.

I have no proof, but these things usual work by the Government looking at the calendar and seeing what date suits best. Mothers Day suited to be the same as the USA and others, but Fathers Day didn’t.

There are no NZ public holidays happening in May so Mothers day was Ok then.

Queen’s Birthday is in June so they may have shifted Fathers Day to September as there are no public holidays in September.

the other day i was thinking of how a friend of my grandmas lost her daughter in accident 10 years back, would it be politically correct to wish her a mothers day, because technically she is not a mother, she "was" a mother when she had a child, but since her daughter pass away she’s not the mother of anything anymore

I wouldn’t. Just because it might be something very sensitive to her. You wishing her a happy mother’s day could just stir up terrible memories. She might start crying. People never get over the loss of a kid and i don’t think it’s worth the risk of hurting her. Basically, by not wishing her a happy mother’s day no harm is done if you wish her a happy mothers day you could stir up some horrid emotions.
